Maya Solomon

Returning Awardee Maya Solomon, expected class of 2023, is from Detroit, Michigan. Maya studies Sociology (Pre-Law) at Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University. In Detroit, Maya is a Co-Founder of DAYUM, Detroit Area Youth Uniting Michigan, an organization led by marginalized youth working with issues of economic inequality, racism, homophobia, and ageism. Within this role, Maya has led and organized a national school walkout and is a March for Our Lives Detroit Organizer. Additionally, she has experience as a Tennis Academy Coach at Palmer Park in Detroit. She is a member of the FAMU NAACP Chapter as well as the Hatchett Pre-Law Society. Upon graduation, Maya will attend law school and use her legal expertise to start a foundation advocating for civil rights, public policy, criminal justice, and grassroots social change.
