Jayla Thornton

Jayla Thornton, expected class of 2024, is from Fort Washington, Maryland. Jayla is studying Political Science at North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University, where she has maintained a 4.0 cumulative GPA. In the summer of 2022, Jayla served as a Legislative Intern in the Office of Senator Chris Van Hollen (D-MD). She has also been a Legislative Intern in the Office of Congresswoman Kathy Manning (D-NC-06). Jayla has experience as a Civic Fellow with You Can Vote leading voter registration efforts on campus and in Greensboro, North Carolina. On campus, Jayla is an Aggie Ambassador in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, Political Action Chair of the NCAT Chapter, National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), and Back Girls Vote. Upon graduating, Jayla plans to attend law school to pursue a career as a Civil Rights Attorney combating gender and racial inequalities.
