Derrick Webb

Returning Awardee Derrick Webb, expected class of 2023, is from Montgomery, Alabama. Derrick is a Biology (Pre-Med) student at Dillard University. In the summer of 2022, Derrick participated in the Yale University Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) to conduct research on the history of health activism in the Black community before and after the Civil Rights Movement. Additionally, he participated in the inaugural research cohort at The Johns Hopkins School of Medicine History of Medicine Department and Humanities Collaboratory and was a Mellon Humanities Research Fellow. On campus, Derrick has served as President of the Minority Association for Pre-Med Students (MAPS) and an Emerging STEM Scholars Academy Mentor. He is a student tutor at Dillard University’s Academic Center for Excellence assisting students with classwork and homework. Derrick has also served as a Resident Assistant on campus and a student ambassador for the United Negro College Fund. Upon graduation, Derrick will become a Pediatrician to serve the underrepresented by providing high quality medical care.
