Derrick Webb

Returning Awardee Derrick Webb, expected class of 2023, is from Montgomery, Alabama. Derrick is a Biology (Pre-Med) student at Dillard University. Derrick is President of the Minority Association for Pre-Med Students (MAPS) and an Emerging STEM Scholars Academy Mentor. He serves as a student tutor at Dillard University’s Academic Center for Excellence by assisting students with classwork and homework. Additionally, Derrick has served as a Resident Assistant on campus. In the summer of 2021, Derrick was selected as one of two students nationally to participate in the inaugural research cohort at The Johns Hopkins University History of Medicine Department and Humanities Collaboratory, for which he researched the historical continuity of medical racism and COVID-19 vaccinations in the Black community. Upon graduation, Derrick will become a pediatrician to serve the underrepresented by providing high quality medical care.
